  • Dr. Darrel S. Brodke is the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and holds the Jack and Hazel Robertson Presidential Endowed Professorship. He is a spine specialist focused on the improvement of pain and function for people with spinal disorders through both surgical and non-surgical treatments. He has particular expertise in the care of neck and back problems, including disc herniations, spinal stenosis, and degenerative conditions.

    Dr. Brodke's research interests have focused on spinal biomechanics, spinal deformity surgery treatments and patient reported outcomes. It is his aim to advance and improve care broadly through this work.

    Dr. Brodke received his MD degree at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of California, San Francisco, completed an Orthopaedic Residency at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Wisconsin, and a Fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Washington in Seattle. He joined the faculty of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah in 1997.

    Dr. Brodke was very thorough and explored all treatments before agreeing to perform back surgery. His staff was attentive to my needs and put my health concerns as the focus throughout my treatment. They always responded to my emails within the same day.

  • Dr. Darrel S. Brodke is the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and holds the Jack and Hazel Robertson Presidential Endowed Professorship.
