Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) is hosting the first annual Ï㽶ÊÓƵ-wide Mental Health, Brain and Behavioral Science Research Day. Research Day is an opportunity for faculty, students, and staff to learn about and share research from across the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah related to mental health, brain and behavioral science.
“This creates an opportunity to engage with people from colleges across the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ from diverse backgrounds and disciplines," says Deborah Yurgelun-Todd, PhD, Vice Chair of Research at Huntsman Mental Health Institute. “We are incredibly excited about Research Day and how it will grow and change in years to come.â€
The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ will bring together academics, researchers, and experts from throughout the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah to showcase innovative work in their respective fields. The intention is to foster collaboration to improve health care outcomes for everyone.

Event Details
Research Day will be on August 19, 2022 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Rice Eccles Stadium, West Tower.
The event will include a series of speakers and a poster session. Poster submissions can be new or from a presentation completed in the last year. Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place poster presenters in the following categories:
- High school/undergraduate student
- Graduate/medical student
- Fellow/resident/postdoc
- Junior faculty (defined as the highest rank of assistant professor)
To be eligible for an award, you must:
- Submit a poster related to the topics of mental health, brain or behavioral science
- Be present at the poster during the poster viewing sessions
“We hope that this brings together people who do not normally have the opportunity to collaborate, “says Yurgelun-Todd. “It's an incredible opportunity for us work together to drive innovative new ideas and discovery.â€
