About Total Cancer Care

At Huntsman Cancer Institute at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah, health care providers and researchers seek to know how and why cancer develops and to find ways to better understand, detect, treat, and prevent it.

Together, we want to improve care and quality of life for people affected by cancer and save lives now and in the future.

Total Cancer Care® is a partnership between participants, health care providers, and researchers, aligned with the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network () of leading cancer centers.

Who can participate?

You can be in this study if any of these are true:

  • You have been diagnosed with any type of tumor or cancer.
  • Your family has a hereditary condition or strong history of cancer or tumors.
  • You are a volunteer willing to share samples and data for research.

Why should I take part?

It is an opportunity to contribute samples and information that will be used to accelerate cancer research and improve patient care. Participants like you are vital to our success. The study also offers access to a broader set of clinical trials and new treatments through our partnership with other leading cancer centers nationally. There is no cost to be in this study. No matter what you decide, it won't change the relationship with your health care providers or affect the quality of your care.

How do I participate?

  • You let us have leftover tissue from routine care such as a procedure or a surgery.
  • You may be asked to give additional blood at various times. This is voluntary and we will do our best to draw blood when it is already being done for medical care.
  • You are willing to fill out a questionnaire if asked about your physical and emotional health, family history, and lifestyle.
  • You let us contact you about future research and relevant clinical trials that may interest you.

We invite you to participate in this important research or learn more.
