Sheehan noted that throughout Savage's tenure at the foundation, he has provided exceptional leadership increasing support for donations for facilities construction, cancer research, and grateful patient philanthropy. He has introduced innovation to the planned giving arena, thereby doubling the number of gifts the foundation will receive through wills and trusts. As important, he has generously extended his expertise to benefit the broader philanthropy profession at the .
"In my 30-year career in philanthropy, I have had the opportunity to mentor a select number of people in the field. Loren has achieved a level of impact that is unprecedented in advancing cancer resources for research and care," said Sheehan. "He is that rare employee who soars when presented with a seemingly insurmountable set of challenges. It is so rewarding to recognize his hard work and exceptional skills."
Mr. Savage had 17 years of experience in non-profit work when he was recruited to Utah six years ago from Chicago. He has a bachelor of arts in organizational development of social entrepreneurship from DePaul Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. He enjoys life in Utah with his husband Brian and their son, Davison.
"I am thrilled to step into this new role at Huntsman Cancer Foundation," Savage said. "We have an amazing team working together to engage our generous donors, patients, families, and community members across the Mountain West. I look forward to deepening the relationships with all our key stakeholders to nurture Huntsman Cancer Institute's world-class cancer care and cutting-edge cancer research."
Savage began in this new role with the Huntsman Cancer Foundation on November 1.
