Helping Patients Quit Smoking or Using Tobacco

Huntsman Cancer Institute patients are strongly encouraged to quit or cut back their tobacco use in any form:

  • Cigarettes
  • Cigars
  • E-cigarettes (vapes or vape pens)
  • Pipes and hookahs
  • Smokeless tobacco (chewing tobacco, dip, chew, or snuff)

Your Huntsman Cancer Institute doctor and counselors can help. Your care team will work with you to decide on the best treatment method. Patients may need one or more of these:

  • Counseling (in-person and over the phone)
  • Medication (Chantix, Zyban)
  • Nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum)

Medications are available to pick up at the Huntsman Cancer Institute outpatient Pharmacy or your local pharmacy.
