Customized Occupational Therapy Plan

At the Life Skills Clinic, children will have opportunities to improve and expand their own skills and developmental milestones through:

  • natural play schemes,
  • carefully constructed sensory and motor challenges, as well as
  • education-based opportunities.

We design an occupational therapy plan, provided in individual and/or group sessions, tailored to each child. Ask us about our community based pediatric groups.

Adult Occupational Therapy

At the Life Skills Clinic, we work to meet the needs of adults who have challenges with independent living skills and functional performance. This could be due to sensory processing difficulties, poor executive functioning skills, limited social skills, or other delays in development. Examples of diagnoses include adults with autism (ASD), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), down syndrome (DS), or other developmental concerns.

We can help your loved one in a variety of ways:

  • Transitioning into adulthood

  • Self-care skills

  • Meal preparation

  • Sensory processing needs

  • Social skills

  • Financial management

  • Household chores

  • Time management

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Cognitive Skills

We also offer services for adults with poor cognitive performance resulting from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or other brain disorders. Following a TBI, your loved one may experience difficulties in several areas:

  • Memory

  • Attention

  •  Organization

  • Making decisions

  • Problem solving

Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT)

CBIT is a non-medicated treatment for children and adults with Tourette Syndrome (TS) and tic disorders. CBIT providers must be certified by the Tourette Association of America. The main components of CBIT include:

  • Becoming more aware of tics.

  • Recognizing the urge to tic.

  • Learning a competing response to manage tics.

  • Understanding how other factors increase or decrease tics.

  • Making changes in day-to-day activities that can reduce tics.

Does My Child Need Occupational Therapy?
