Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) has selected the John A. Moran Eye Center at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah to receive an unrestricted annual grant of $115,000 to support eye research over the next five years.
RPB awarded the funding based on a thorough review of criteria, including Moran's research activities, laboratory environment, and clinical and scientific staff, as evaluated by RPB's renowned Scientific Advisory Panel.
The funds will be deployed at the discretion of Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Professor and Chair Randall J Olson, MD, to provide maximum flexibility in developing and expanding eye research programs and fostering creative planning beyond the scope of restricted project grants.
Moran holds one of 32 RPB Unrestricted Grants nationwide. The funding begins in 2021.
Since it was founded in 1960, RPB has channeled more than $383 million into eye research. As a result, RPB has been identified with nearly every major breakthrough in vision research in that time.
