The John A. Moran Eye Center welcomes Shandi Beckwith, OD, to its Farmington, Redwood, and South Jordan clinics.
Beckwith provides a full range of optometry services for adults and children, with an emphasis on specialty contact lenses. She is also certified in management for children ages 8-12.
"Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a growing issue among children who spend less time outdoors and more time indoors looking at screens," she notes. "One goal is to slow the progression of the condition with the help of special contact lenses."
A Utah native, Beckwith returns to her home state by way of Memphis, Tennessee, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Southern College of Optometry. While there, she received special recognition for her leadership and service in the profession. She has clinical experience in various professional settings, including the George E. Wahlen Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
Before pursuing her deep interest in vision care, Beckwith graduated from the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science.
"I’m so happy to be back in Utah, said Beckwith. "I missed the mountains and the ease of spending time outdoors, and I love rooting for Ute football and gymnastics."
