The John A. Moran Eye Center recently welcomed Edward R. Nicholls, OD, to its Westridge and Midvalley clinics.
With more than nine years of experience, he provides a wide range of eye care services and comprehensive eye exams.
"I'm comfortable working with patients of all ages and a variety of vision issues," he said. "My daughter has worn eyeglasses since she was three years old, I have a family member who has special needs, and I have a grandparent with macular degeneration. Because of these experiences, I can see the need for everyone to get the best access to vision care."
Born and raised in Utah, Nicholls earned his doctorate of optometry at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Houston and an undergraduate degree in exercise physiology, with a minor in chemistry from the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah.
While in Texas, Nicholls worked as a volunteer, providing free vision screenings for Special Olympic athletes for three years. He also served as the president and treasurer of the Operation Smile Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah Chapter, raising funds for children with cleft lips and palates.
"By far the best part of my job is helping people see better," he said. "I love seeing a patient put on a new pair of glasses, and it's as if they are seeing the world for the first time."
Nicholls speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and glamping with his wife and four children.
