I am a 74-year-old female who, about 8 years ago, developed glaucoma, and it was kept under control, with the guidance of my eye doctor. A year later, I developed cataracts, and I had successful surgeries. About 3 months later, my glaucoma pressures started going up and up, which led to another surgery, which again was a success, and with meds, I have been doing really well. A year ago, I started having vision loss in one eye. Upon evaluation, it was discovered that I had a fold on my cornea and would need a transplant.
Modern medicine has come such a long way. My dad, probably 40 years or more ago, had to have a full cornea transplant. Upon my eye evaluation, the doctor felt a partial cornea transplant could be sufficient, which I had in August of last year.
Thank you so much to the donor and their family for your willingness to help me have restored eyesight once again. You have no idea how grateful and appreciative I am. Thank you again for your willingness to donate and help someone else have their vision restored. I will be forever grateful.
