Why Choose U of U Health

Our center of excellence offers a team approach. We believe this is crucial to provide the most accurate and evidence-based developmental assessments. Team members include:

  • developmental pediatrics,
  • advanced practice clinicians,
  • cardiologists and neurologists,
  • speech and language pathologists,
  • psychologists, occupational and physical therapists,
  • registered nurses, and
  • medical assistants.

We partner with primary care providers (PCP) and several Utah Department of Health Programs, including the Family Voices and Integrated Services Program. This allows us to offer children the best services possible support and assist families in the coordination of their child’s ongoing developmental needs.

Virtual Visits

During the pandemic we have increased our ability to offer virtual visits for families. We have worked with top developmental centers across the country to develop new ways of offering state-of-the-art telehealth evaluations that are of the same quality that would be received in-person. Ultimately, the choice is yours whether your child is seen in-person or through virtual visit.

Please be aware that during the pandemic our hospital requires children two and older and their caregivers as well as our providers to wear masks at all times while in our clinic. If your child is unable to wear a mask, we encourage you to consider telehealth evaluations.

Please note due to regulations, if you are from out of the state of Utah, you will need to schedule an in-person visit.

How to Do a Virtual Visit

When we call to discuss your child’s appointment, we will explain how to do a virtual visit. If your visit is with the CDP program, they will ask you to gather some toys/items to help with the assessment. The clinic will provide written instructions on this.

We do our telemedicine visits through a secure patient Zoom portal. We have been given feedback from families who have done virtual visits that they were highly satisfied, that the process was easy and that they would not hesitate to use telehealth again.

If you do not have the equipment we ask for, internet access, or the toys that are required, you may be able to borrow it from our partners at the Utah Department of Health. If you let us know, we can assist you with getting this equipment before your virtual visit.

Note: The Heart Center Neurodevelopment Program does not offer virtual visits.

From Our Patients

"This clinic is a wonderful place full of amazing pediatric professionals. My daughter is always in good hands and I feel as though the staff goes the extra mile to make things work for your schedule.

We receive all the answers we need when we go there, and if we have further questions with a different professional than the one we are seeing they are quick to schedule another appointment for us. Highly recommend this clinic for children with disabilities and special needs." â€”Patient Parent
