February is heart health month and the perfect time to teach kids the importance of healthy cooking and eating. Elementary students from Quail Hollow Elementary School in Sandy, Utah, joined representatives from Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah Health Care (UUHC), Kohl's Department Store, and Radio Disney to learn more about a healthy and active lifestyle.
At a school-wide assembly, representatives from Radio Disney taught the kids about how much fun it can be to get active and eat healthy. Kohl's presented UUHC with a check for $303,513 to support the Kohl's Healthy Kids Program, a partnership designed to teach kids at a young age about healthy eating and how to make healthy food choices. The interactive Web site (www.kohlshealthykids.com) features recipes, healthy eating tips, and a contest to win an iPad Mini or a family Disneyland vacation.
On behalf of the Kohl's Cares® Program, donations were collected from Kohl's stores located in the Salt Lake City area. Kohl's has gifted nearly $1,400,000 to the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ since 2008.
