School of Medicine Ranks High Among World Universities

 

The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah was ranked No. 35 in Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy on the 2015 Academic Ranking of World Universities, conducted by researchers at the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, which was released Monday.

The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah ties for the 35th spot with the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Chicago.

The ranking considers several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, papers published in the journals Nature and Science, papers indexed in major citation indices, and the per capita academic performance of an institution, according to the organization.

The U remained steady at number 35 in the world for the second year in a row. Two years ago the U jumped from number 51 in the world to 35.

The to train tomorrow's physicians for the rapidly changing world of medicine. With a faculty of more than 1,300 doctors and researchers, the School of Medicine trains the majority of Utah physicians, whether it's for an M.D., residency or fellowship. The School of Medicine also is widely recognized for interdisciplinary research in the genetics of disease, cancer, biomedical informatics, infectious diseases, and other areas of leading-edge medicine.
