U of U Health Begins COVID-19 Vaccinations for High-Risk Patients

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah Health is honored to help the state of Utah distribute COVID-19 vaccines to select patient groups, beginning March 1, 2021. U of U Health recommends COVID-19 vaccines and believes they are important to help combat the global COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccinating those who are most vulnerable is a high priority to the U of U Health care system, including prioritizing outreach to ensure patients in vulnerable populations have access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

Vaccination efforts will initially focus on patients with the highest-risk medical conditions, which include:

  • Patients who have had solid organ transplants
  • Patients with hematologic cancers diagnosed in the past five years
  • Patients with chronic neurologic conditions
  • Patients with severe chronic kidney disease (stage 4, stage 5, and end-stage renal disease)
  • Patients on immunosuppresive therapy
  • Patients in an immunocompromised state

At this time, vaccinations will be available by appointment only at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah Hospital and Redwood Health Center. Vaccination efforts will expand to additional groups of patients and additional health centers as more vaccines become available.

Eligible patients will be notified about this opportunity and receive directions on how to schedule an appointment to get vaccinated through MyChart, text message, and automated voice calls. Visit the U of U Health Coronavirus Vaccine website to learn more.
