Get a Second Opinion From a U of U Health Expert
Facing complex medical issues or a new diagnosis is overwhelming. Ï㽶ÊÓƵ of Utah Health Care providers are here to help in your health care journey. The Skull Base Tumor Second Opinion Program provides access to experienced world class providers without leaving home. Our program is intended for those that have received a diagnosis or recommendation for treatment and want to make a more informed decision by getting another opinion.
How Our Program Works
Our second opinion program takes place online. Our program is open to all patients regardless of country or state of origin. Our program includes both a detailed record review by our world class providers and a written report. Your report will provide information about how our providers would typically treat a similar issue or concern for other patients with your condition. Our Skull Base Tumor Program is unique because we use a team approach with otolaryngologists (ENT) and neurosurgeons. Together, our team provides you with the best possible care.
If you would like a more detailed evaluation, please request an appointment with the clinical team. During an appointment you establish care with a U of U Health provider. You can have an in-person or virtual appointment. Your insurance will be billed for an appointment.*
*Please note that our providers are not licensed in every state, and we cannot guarantee that we have a provider licensed in your state.
How to Get a Second Opinion
Participation in our program takes place in steps:
-
Complete the online request form.
-
The clinical team will work with you to collect all medical records and imaging. We will collect your records from your current doctor. Your current doctor will not be involved in our team’s review of your records. If our team encounters an issue with getting your records, we will contact you to discuss other options.
-
A member of the team will reach out to you for payment once we have received your medical record. A pre-payment of $200 is required for our team to review your records.
-
Once our team has received all required records, the specialists will provide a written report within 5–7 business days.
-
You will then receive a written report. Reports can be sent via MyChart or physical mail.
Cost & Insurance
A pre-payment of $200 is required before our team can review your records. You cannot use your insurance to pay the fee. You may be able to use your HSA or FSA account funds, but you will need to verify eligibility with your HSA or FSA company policies.
