John Hopkins defines evidence-based medicine (EBM) as "the ideal that health care professionals should make 'conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence.'" As medical students, EBM was probably just a section on an exam or test. But as residents, knowing when to use EBM when treating patients isn't always so clear-cut.
