For Jenna, the Youth Residential Treatment program was the ideal choice.

Being a high school student comes with a unique level of stress.

For Jenna, a student in Washington state, the added stressors of self-harm, suicidal ideation, and isolation created an extremely difficult school experience.

Jenna's depression and anxiety impacted her ability to focus on classes and turn in assignments on time, and negatively affected family relationships.

Jenna and her mother, Julie, took the important step of finding Jenna the mental health resources she deserved. While researching the nation鈥檚 leading mental health centers, Huntsman Mental Health Institute quickly became their leading choice. While it was a difficult decision to go out of state and be far from home, choosing Huntsman Mental Health Institute was the right choice for Jenna.

At the Youth Residential Treatment program at Huntsman Mental Health Institute, Jenna received the tools she needed to be resilient. She was able to connect with other patients, which provided a welcoming support group. A wide range of group activities also provided a comfortable sanctuary.

Jenna spent two months at Huntsman Mental Health Institute

鈥淭he staff was nice and friendly,鈥 Jenna said. 鈥淚 could tell they really cared about me. They never criticized anyone. They were great listeners.鈥

Kortni Coats, MAT, education specialist at Huntsman Mental Health Institute, had great things to say about Jenna.  鈥淛enna was always up for a challenge and willing to try new techniques. Her academic skills shone, but anxiety hindered her ability to function. She put a lot of pressure and high expectations on herself. I am thrilled that she was able to trust the process and learn healthy interventions. I hope this experience opens new opportunities in her journey because Jenna鈥檚 talents and abilities are endless. If you get the opportunity to cross paths with her, you鈥檒l feel the magic that we all did.鈥

Julie, Jenna鈥檚 mother, has high praise for the staff who worked with Jenna. 鈥淭he supportive care teams at Huntsman Mental Health Institute.  gave her some skills she was missing,鈥 Julie said. 鈥淛enna really grew during her time there.鈥

Today, Jenna is back home and once again attending school. In addition to her classwork, she stays busy volunteering and doing service work for her church.
